2019-2024 UCSF AI4ALL Program
Founded in 2019 by Dr. Marina Sirota, the UCSF AI4ALL program focused on recruiting high school students for a tuition-free, three-week summer experience and introducing them to biomedical applications of artificial intelligence (AI). The inaugural program launched as an in-person experience. In 2020, co-led by Dr. Sirota and Dr. Tomiko Oskotsky, the program shifted to a synchronized virtual format and remained online through 2024. Students learned core AI concepts through faculty lectures, gained hands-on research experience through projects, and engaged with a breadth of role models working at the intersection of computer science and biomedicine. Mentoring, along with career and personal development sessions with faculty, researchers, industry professionals, program alumni, and undergraduate and other students, supported the program participants' growth and career exploration.
